#6

So my friends are asking for another post.... so here I go...

Fred Dugan  I met Fred at LoDos.  We really hit it off from the minute we met.  I also knew from the moment that we met that he was not my type of man at all.  So I guess you could say that he was my guilty pleasure, I was really only physically attracted to him.  He worked at Coors and lifted weights... and that was about all he did.  He was really happy to join me in whatever I wanted to do, but I knew that he really had no ambitions or hobbies of his own.  Ok, so typing this now I'm really sure I only dated him for his looks and body.
I'm sure that a lot of people have done that at least once in their life right?

Well... in the end we did not not end up working out for a few factors.
1.) He was a man in his 30s scared to commit to a relationship. He told me his longest "relationship" was 4 months. That was a red flag.
2.) When we went out he would check out other women obviously better looking than me all the time.  I am not really a self conscious woman, but he did it all the time!  That is a sign that you are dating a player.
3.)  He worked at Coors and always had tons of beer at his house.  I felt like I was taking a 30 something frat boy.  Now, I do enjoy beer... but I don't keep cases of it around my house all the time.
4.)  A man that spends that much time at the gym looks amazing...  but he will also pick going to the gym for hours over spending time with you.
And now 5.)  He warned me from the night that I met him that he was a player and he would break my heart.  That really should have been the red flag there... but I chose to ignore it anyways.  Oh well!  By the way.. he did not break my heart though.  I never fell for him.

#5

Oh #5. Greg.
Greg was the one guy that I really gave a fair shot at.  I really rooted for him from the beginning and tried really hard to make us become a couple.  But he had baggage... and she hated me.

He was a fun guy to be around, really didn't take himself too seriously.  He had a great job and invested his money well.  He treated me like a woman should be treated.. which at this point I had thought was a lost art.  He seemed to be really honest with me about everything. Everything but his living situation.  I knew that he lived with a woman that was his friend.  I also found out that she was his ex girlfriend, and he paid all of her bills, and that she hated me even though we never met. He would never let me meet her, I could only go to his house when she was gone.  I felt like I was sneaking around or something and it really started to bother me. She would call and text him dozens of times when we were out on dates.  It was just so weird to me.  So I broke it off with Greg because I could not stand that feeling I would get around him after awhile.  I felt like him and his ex had some unresolved issues, and I was in the middle of it.  For people that know me, they know that I do not deal with drama.  I will avoid it at all costs. So we broke it off.
About 3 months after we were done I get a call from Greg saying that he really missed me and wanted to meet up to talk. I decided to see what he wanted because I really did like this guy, I was just put in a bad situation before. So we talked and decided that we would date again.  His roommate had found an apartment that she was moving into and he said that they were not really even friends anymore.  I'm all about giving people a second chance.  So we dated again, and I even took him to my company Rockies game.  My coworkers really liked him and I thought maybe I had finally made a good decision for once about a guy. That all changed that night.  His ex/roommate called to tell him that she decided that she could not afford a place on her own and that she was not moving out.  She also started asking about me and saying really rude stuff about me.  I asked if he was going to let her stay in the house.  This woman by the way, was 27 at the time.  He said he could never kick her out of the house.  So I ended our whatever we had, then and there.  I told him to never talk to me again.  So that is his story.

From Greg I learned that some men are powerless around some women.  In his case, this other woman had all the control and would not let him move on with his life.  I do kind of feel bad for him when I really think about it.  Some people just don't have the strength to move on when they know that they should.

#4

So now I will write about Nick. And he is the first Nick, there is another one that I meet about 4 months later....

Nick seemed like a really nice guy.  He loved the Nebraska Cornhuskers, had a solid job in IT, and owned his own house.  We could talk for hours and not run out of anything to say.  Well... our first date was really great.  He took me out for wings and beer.  He also made me take my first and best gummi bear shot. lol.  During our face time I began to understand that this guy was also still hung up on his ex girlfriend.  Here we go again I thought to myself! I guess she was in rehab (and I'm and not sure to this day why).  Well, I still liked him and went on a second date, that just seemed awkward.  Later that night when I got home and called, I stated that I thought we were not going to work out.  He said that was ok because his ex was getting out of rehab and he wanted to try and work things out with here.

I am over my ex at this point and am ready to date.  Why are there so many men that lead ladies on?  Can't you just be honest with yourself and know that you are not ready, so you should not try to date!  I am starting to wonder if I will find a normal guy (that does not remind me of my ex) that I could possibly have a relationship with.  It seems that men these days carry around a lot of emotional baggage.

#3

Last one for the night....

#3 was Nick.. I think... or was Lewis. Damn this is getting harder to remember the order.  I will say it's Lewis.  Oh god, where do I begin with Lewis?  He was a few years younger than me to start with.  On our first date I would have sworn he was a normal cute guy. He was in school for the same major as me and really had some amazing goals in his life.  He was even cool when these drunk Canadian guys that asked to join our shuffle board game. Date #3 with his friends... I was proved wrong.  We went bowling first, where he drank an amazing amount of beer, and made me pay for it... and the game and rentals.  Really, he couldn't afford a bowling date with me? Then we went to eat in the downtown area of Fort Collins with his friends. After wards we went on a short walk.  Lewis found it necessary to scream at every car that drove by. And he screamed like a girl. Then he decided that he was going to do cart wheels and various other stunts on college street.

I decided after this date that we would not be a great match at all.  Ever.  I told him that we could try to stay friends. After I stated that he continued to text me twice a week asking me to hang out.  He always asked last minute and when I was busy.  I finally got a text one day stating that I obviously did not want to be his friend and that he was deleting my number and never wanted to talk to me again.  My roommate and I had a long laugh over the immaturity of this text.  So that was the end of Lewis to say the least.

#2

Ok, so I am on a role tonight... and trying to avoid studying that should be done!

#2 was a guy that I met from online dating. I do believe that online dating can work.  I know people that have met online and are happily married.  I met Zach only like a week after being dumped by Jose.  I really think that I just needed an ego boost.  Well, he sure helped with that! Zach adored me from our first date. He was tall, handsome (even though one of my friends didn't think so, and you know who you are. lol), graduated from the School of Mines in Golden, and had a a great job.  Did I mention that he lived a block from Wash Park to top it off?  He was also an athlete.. played softball and worked out. His parents had a few properties that he vacationed at.  So you may say, why are you not with this one?  He got to meet a couple of my friends, and they said that his personalty reminded them of my ex-fiance.  That was the end of that. I was not going to get myself caught up in that again. So that was the end of Zach.....

#1

So I will try to go in order with these men. I may use their real names, I may not.  I have gained friendships with only a couple, so I will try to protect the privacy of those.  My real friends reading this will know who most of these men are.

The first one was Jose.  He was a cutie, and I had actually met him before I had actually broken up with my ex-fiance.  We seemed to have a lot in common, both loved music, concerts and having a good beer. We clicked from the first date and were inseparable after that.  Jose even came to my best friend's 21st birthday party and my friends loved him to death.  So what went wrong?

A few things.... he was still in love with his ex girlfriend.  So really, no matter what I did would have changed the end result.  I guess that I was hurt that he could not have figured this fact out before he decided to try a relationship with me. Jose has also been the only man that I have cried over in this entire dating experience.  I also felt that this man was at a huge cross-roads in his life and needed to figure out a lot about himself.

I also have come to conclude a few things about myself with him.  I was over clingy, jealous of other women in his life, and always did what he wanted to do.  These are not normal traits of my personality, so I think it was a good thing that we did not work out in the end.

Explanations...

So.... what would bring a seemingly normal woman to be thrown back out into the dating world and forced to spend time with strange men? Well, this woman would be me, and it's all my fault. I choose to be single and start over again.  My blogs are going to be about the men I have dated so far this year.  I am going to analyze them and try to figure them out.  You may love my opinions, or hate them.  I am just going to be honest.
